I was asked to participate in a recent industry survey conducted by Real Estate Bees. Real Estate Bees is an online platform for investors, realtors, and other real estate industry professionals.
Real Estate Bees provides industry best practices for agents in the areas of marketing, research, and training. Much of the information they offer is provided by expert veterans in the form of surveys on current topics and articles written by them.
The topic under discussion that I weighed in on was “how to find distressed properties for sale as a real estate investor”.
There are many sources of information on distressed properties. Our survey panel mentioned 19 methods that they have used with varying degrees of success.
Over 30% of the survey respondents prioritized different types of networking which is an area in which I specialize. Having founded and managed an investment club, I was in a good position to point out some of the advantages of a good networking strategy.
Together, the panel went through different tools in detail including direct mail, using real estate wholesalers, and the effectiveness of improved website content to draw sellers.
The pros and cons that are shared with the survey readers by the panel are extremely valuable to young investors. These tips are the result of the actual experiences of successful experienced investment professionals.
In addition to my comments on networking, I was also asked to give my insights on expired listings, driving the market, and how to get the most out of attending an investment club.
We were all pretty consistent on the importance of time management and the creation and maintenance of a pipeline of business.
I found it interesting to see how many long-time real estate veterans were well acquainted with the best ways to use social media and a strong internet presence. Communication technology is a given in today’s world and you’d better be equipped to use it effectively.
I was pleased to be recruited by Real Estate Bees for this survey. It may come as a surprise to you, but real estate veterans are good sources of information and are usually happy to share.
We all know that networking is the key to staying in touch with our markets. If I can help you and you can help me, we can both succeed.
